At Dalhousie the local CAPSI council is made up of a few very dedicated students who work very hard to provide the College with pharmacy competitions, lunch and learns, opportunities to provide outreach education in local schools, awards, and so much more. We also work to provide our students with discounted textbooks, conference opportunities and various events throughout the school year.

Local Events for the Year
1
CPhA Book Sale
Each year the local CAPSI council works closely with representatives from the Canadian Pharmacists Association to provide students with great pharmacy references, such as the Compendium of Therapeutic Choices, at discounted rates.
2
CAPSI competitions
The CAPSI competitions are run every fall and put students pharmacy skills to the test for a chance to compete at a National level at the Professional Development Week Conference each January. The competitions test the students counselling, compounding, critical appraisal, and writing skills.

Dalhousies Next Top Pharmacist
At Dal we are proud to be the first Canadian Pharmacy School to provide students with a Pharmacy Pageant open to all genders. The Pageant is typically held at the campus pub, the Grawood and the “Top Pharmacist” is crowned by a panel of student judges who score contestants on their professional wear, ability to answer questions under pressure, their talent and a variety of other things. The proceeds from this event go to a local charity which is chosen each year.

Pharmacy Awareness Month
Pharmacy Awareness Month is in March each year. The local CAPSI council works with the Dalhousie Society of Pharmacy Students to host pharmacy awareness events like lunch and learns, school outreach programs, and community outreach.
