Admissions Information

University of British Columbia

  • Quota: 224 students
  • Suggested GPA: 65% or greater in the pre-requisite courses listed below AND any courses that are transferable (are part of the degree requirements, eg. BIOC 300, ANAT 390, etc). Admitted students tend to have averages that fall between 75% and 80%.
  • PCAT: Score of 65% or greater must complete prior to end of January
  • Letter of Reference(s): Two letters of references are required in the application package
  • Deadlines:

    • PCAT scores: 31 MAR

University of Alberta

  • Quota: 130 students
  • Suggested GPA: 3.5 or greater (4-point scale). Competitive average 3.7
  • Letter of Intent: Applicants must submit a letter with their application for admission stating their career goals, knowledge of the profession, related experience, and reasons for seeking admission to the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in a prescribed form.
  • Deadlines:

University of Saskatchewan

  • Quota: 90 students
    Of these, 14 spaces are reserved for non-residents of Saskatchewan (including both out-of-province and international students)

    • 4 Saskatchewan resident spaces are reserved for Aboriginal students
    • 1 student may be considered for admission under special circumstances or compassionate reasons.
  • Minimum Average: 70%

University of Manitoba

  • Quota: 50 students
    Please note that as the University of Manitoba is a limited enrolment faculty and only accept 50 students each year, priority in selection is given to Manitoba residents. It has therefore not been possible to accept out-of-province applicants in the last fifteen or more years, unless students are in category 1. (see website)
  • Suggested GPA: An adjusted grade point average of 3.5 (equivalent to a B+ at the University of Manitoba) out of a scale of 4.5 is required for admissions.
  • Deadlines:

University of Waterloo

  • Quota: 120 students
  • Suggested GPA: An overall University Average of 75% (3.0/4.0 or 6.5/9.0 GPA)
  • Admissions Profile: Each applicant must complete an ‘Admissions Profile’ detailing personal information and involvement in activities.
  • Personal Reference: A personal reference must be provided by an individual who is a Pharmacist (alternatively a Physician, Dentist, Optometrist, or Nurse) and cannot be a relative of the applicant.
  • Interview and Comprehension Test: Based on all submitted information (academic background, Admissions Profile and Reference Form), selected individuals will be invited to participate in an interview. During the interview process the applicant must also complete a writing and comprehension test.
  • Deadlines:
    • Application: 9 JAN
    • Admission Profile: 11 FEB

University of Toronto

  • Quota: 240 students
    The majority of applicants will be selected from the province of Ontario. A maximum of 10% of the admitted class may be selected from outside Ontario (including international students)
  • Suggested GPA: A minimum of 70% in all courses (equivalent to the letter grade B at the University of Toronto) is required. The competitive average required for consideration in the final selections in recent years has been mid-B (74%)
  • PCAT: Accessed on individual components; will vary per year. The 2009 cycle cut-off was “Conventions of Language 3, Problem Solving 2.5, Composite Percentile 50, Chemistry percentile 50, Biology percentile 20, Quantitative Ability percentile 20, Reading Comprehension percentile 20, and Verbal Ability percentile 20″.
  • Interview: As of the 2010 admission cycle, an interview is required as the final step of admissions.
  • Deadlines:
    • Application: 10 DEC
    • Last PCAT possible: 15 JAN
    • Intermittent/Final Transcript: 29 JAN/11 JUN

Université de Montreal (Entry level Pharm. D)

  • Le Test d’Admission: Il est necessaire de passer un test d’admission que permettant évaluer «certaines attitudes et aptitudes nécessaires à la pratique de la profession».
  • Suggested GPA: R-score of 33.087 or greater
  • Deadlines:
    • Test: 10, 11, 14 AVRIL
    • Admissions: variable

Université Laval

  • Quota: 150 students
  • Suggested GPA: R-score of 33.0 or greater
  • Test: Les candidats auront besoin passer le test d’admission, que «permettant d’évaluer certaines caractéristiques personnelles jugées essentielles à l’exercice de la pharmacie.».

Dalhousie University

  • Quota: 90 seats, 10 % Non Maritime Canadian Students
  • Suggested GPA: 70% (B-) in each pre-requiste course. Though, students with the best averages in prerequisites and last full year of university are invited for an interview. If the applicant is in the first year of university, Grade 12 average (transcript) replaces the last year of university.
  • Deadlines:
    • Application + Supplemental form: 1 FEB

Memorial University of Newfoundland

  • Quota: 40 students
  • Suggested GPA: Not used; will not accept if below 70%. Suggested Average is 80 % or higher. Admissions Score is calculated as follows: The Admission Score is comprised of the Academic Average Score (65%) and the Non- Academic Interview Score (35%).
  • Deadlines:
