About Us

CAPSI at MUN provides educational events for our members, coordinates with the provincal pharmacy bodies to advocate for the profession, as well as, raise public awareness on the expanding role of the pharmacist in the health care system. Our goal is to increase awareness of the assocation and unite our students with those in other provinces across Canada to advance the profession.

CIBC Run for the Cure

Each year CAPSI organizes a team of students to participate in the CIBC Run for the Cure, raising money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Saving Second Base Softball Tournament is an annual softball tournament CAPSI hosts as a fundraiser for the CIBC Run for the Cure.

Pharmacist Awareness Month

PAM occurs each March. CAPSI organizes many events to promote awareness of the role of pharmacists as integral members of the health care system and the expanding scope of pharmacists. Events include community and school outreach, blood pressure monitoring clinics, a public pill drop and symposia for students.

Newfoundland and Labradors Next Top Pharmacist

A representative from each class competes for the title of Newfoundland and Labrador?€?s Next Top Pharmacist and the opportunity to represent MUN at the National Next Top Pharmacist at PDW. In the past, contestants have faced off in a white coat fashion show, drug name spelling bee, talent show, and mock-mock OSCEs.

Educational Symposia

Throughout the year the local council organizes speaker events for CAPSI members to attend. Past topics have included: Innovations in Rural Practice, The Role of the Pharmacist in Disease Screening and Management and Trans Health.

Mock OSCEs

CAPSI hosts mock OSCEs to help the graduating class prepare for the PEBCs.
